Adding Meta-Data
CD
TEXT AND ISRC CODES
Meta-Data is loosely
described as being 'data about data'. In the CD
manufacturing world, this most commonly means CD Text and
ISRC Code information that is included on the CD disc
itself.
CD Text
CD Text
can be used on audio CDs to store low bit-rate information
on the disc in two ways: (1) To identify each individual
song with its track number, track title and artist name, and
(2) to identify the disc itself with the album name and the
performer/band name.
Specific devices and applications that are able to read and
display this information will recognize it, retrieve it, and
display it to the user. To further clarify, the information
is not contained within the individual audio tracks but it
is stored on the disc itself.
Typically, CD
Text is added at the conclusion of the Mastering stage, when
the songs are being assembled and burned to CDR as the
Master used for manufacturing purposes.

ISRC Codes
The ISRC
(International Standard Recording Code) is the international
identification system for sound recordings and music video
recordings. Each ISRC is a unique and permanent identifier
for a specific recording with can be permanently encoded
into a product as a digital fingerprint.
The ISRC system
is the key to royalty collection for the recordings in the
digital information age, and provides a means to
automatically identify a recording for royalty payment.
